Description: Al-Saddiq Al-Raddi was born in 1969 and lives in Omdurman. His three collections of poetry gained him wide acclaim and he is considered to be one of the leading African poets writing in Arabic today. Sarah Maguire is the founder and director of the Poetry Translation Centre. She has published four highly-praised collections of poetry, most recently The Pomegranates of Kandahar, which was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize 2007. She received a Cholmondeley Award in 2008. Sabry Hafez is Research Professor of Modern Arabic at SOAS. His translations into Arabic, including the poems of TS Eliot, have had a significant effect on the development of contemporary Arabic poetry.
