Description: Michael Longley writes: 'I have believed for a long time that love poetry is at the heart of the enterprise. If poetry is a wheel, then the hub is love poetry, with the other affections and preoccupations radiating like spokes: children, family, heroes, friends, the natural world, birds and flowers, Ireland, the arts. The first poem in this chapbook is the first poem of mine to survive. I wrote "Epithalamion" in the summer of 1963 when I should have been studying for my finals. The rhymes danced down the page with a life of their own, miles ahead of what I was trying to say. Thrilling. As thrilling as falling in love.'
