Fred  D'Aguiar

Fred  D'Aguiar

 Fred D'Aguiar was born in London to Guyanese parents and grew up in Guyana. He trained as a psychiatric nurse before reading African and Caribbean Studies at the University of Kent. He has published five collections of poetry, including Bill of Rights (1998; shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize) and An English Sampler: New and Selected Poems (2001). D'Aguiar is also a playwright and novelist. He is currently Professor of English and Gloria D. Smith Professor of Africana Studies at Virginia Tech State University, USA.
